Decision making is an essential function of management. Together with leadership and communication, it heads the list of abilities which managers and leaders must have.
As individuals we all make decisions everyday: whether to pull out into traffic; to change our mortgage; to commit to that fitness routine.
It is the same with organisations except that decisions are scrutinised and assessed by others across the organisation, bringing or withdrawing support for the leader's ability.
