Most sportsmen and women don't just compete. They all at some time have competed to achieve their dreams, whether they be the next Olympics or success in an interclub match. Even among elite performers those dreams are not always translated and can become a burden rather than the fuel which powers them forward.
Senior coaches from one sports club, producing national and Olympic standard competitors, wanted to help their athletes see their dream, understand what it would take to succeed and believe in the road they were travelling to get there. They were planning training in detail, and providing guidance for the next couple of months, but felt something was missing.
Using tools to give shape and form to the dream was an essential start. Gaining an understanding of the differences between individuals so that no "one size fits all" solution underpinned this and enabled the identification of a series of decisive steps, covering all of the sport's disciplines, to lead along the route.
Providing the means to communicate all of this with the sportsmen and women on a basis which helps their focus and supports their motivation was a final critical part of laying this foundation and the work is now underway to help these individuals and their coaches become truly high performing people.
